Still an overall good bed

Posted by Travis Tichelaar on 3rd Jul 2016

EditMy wife and I have had this for a year now, so we can give a better review than the initial one. Overall, I still think it's a great bed! I have noticed though that we have developed trenches where we sleep. The center of our bed is not normally slept on and is certainly higher and more firm than either side of that. I'm 200 pounds, and my wife is 155, so neither of us is extremely overweight and we still have put spots in the bed that don't rebound through the day. We've tried switching sides, sleeping the other way around (swap feet with head), and it doesn't help.My only complaint about this bed is because of the trenches that don't rebound, if I lay on my stomach (and I do, I sleep on my stomach, side, or back), I'll wake up with a sore lower back because it introduces a large sway in my sleeping posture. The center of the bed that is not slept on, and therefore still as firm and tall as the day we bought it, is way more supportive and comfortable.Initial review:We compared the Purple bed as well as the Casper to this, and this one had very good reviews especially at the price point. It's an amazing bed, but it does cause me to sleep warmer than I did on a coil spring mattress. I think the Purple bed would have offered a superior air-gap, but in all honesty for what you pay this bed is fantastic and I don't regret it at all.

2 months of research & I still chose wrong.

Posted by Spot on 29th Jun 2016

This was purchased especially for my husband. Following my shoulder repair, getting comfy in bed was challenging. My hubby graciously gave me our bed & slept in guest room for several months on a new very comfortable mattress & box springs set. At 60+, he has many aches & pains & even though he slept well & was comfortable, he was achy in the mornings. I gave the mattress set to our granddaughter. I started researching memory foam mattress for him. I was torn between 3 or 4...finally deciding on a 13'mattress from a different company, but it was lost during shipment. Needing a mattress by June 1st, I had to make a 2nd choice decision fast since my 1st choice was now 'out of stock' & on back order. I decided on this mattress because it mentions 'visco' in description, which is good material in foam. I realized later that 'visco' was attached to gel, not the foam. It arrived quickly, we immediately opened it. It expanded to 8' within 4 hrs. After 24 hrs, it was barely at 9'. We didn't lay on it at all for more than 48 hrs. I have very keen sense of smell & it did have an odor, but not nearly what I expected. Within 2-3 days, there was no odor in the room at all. I found in questions & answers the difference in the Atlas & UltraPlush was firmness level, the UltraPlush have more a cushiony feeling. After explaining how & why we have this mattress, here is our opinion. We have not slept together on it....I've napped on it & found it very hard. He has slept on it every night. It is taking time for him to adjust because it is so firm. He is 6'3' weighs 200lb...he is tall, on the thinner side, he doesn't sink into it & it doesn't cushion him at all. He has slept on it less than 30 nights & I think it has already lost some of it's ability to expand....I can see & feel the spot he lays in. On the plus side, his getting out of bed aches are considerably less, so I do think memory foam was a good choice, just wish I'd selected a 12'-13' mattress. Most of what I have read says thicker memory foam is medium-firm which is what I thought I was getting with the 'UltraPlush'. Once out of the box, you can't pack it back up to return. I contacted them regarding the firmness....they recommend I order a memory foam mattress topper to add comfort. That's another $100-$200. Add that to the $400 price tag for the mattress & I'll be spending $500-$600. I would rather have spent $500-$600 on one mattress that was thicker & plusher. Don't like the idea of making additional purchase to fix the first, especially at this fix-it price. I don't regret ordering online....even though it is sometimes a gamble...Perfect Cloud mattresses have good ratings & warranties....I wished I'd ordered the 12' mattress. The price tag is more than $400, but less than the cost after I purchase the additional topper. Maybe I should rate the mattress itself at 4 stars, but having to spend more to fix it cost it a star.
